Beat the clock.

I hardly get sick except since i've started at BLS, i've already had 3 throat/nose ailments. I hate this. Is this 1L syndrome or are you all just sicker than the average people?

Thursday I had a midterm in civ pro and it was pretty much what I expected. What I mean by that is, if I were Nan Hunter and I wanted to write a fact pattern that encompassed as much of the syllabus as we have covered so far, I would probably have wrote something similar.

The main issue: TIME. I can see time is pretty much what will get you on these exams. We had 2 hours to read a 3 page fact pattern and write. To non-law school people that doesn't sound too long but as the rest of you out there know, you can really pack a lot into those 3 pages--and I know it's going to get worse.

I allowed myself about 10-15 min to read it, underline, jot stuff down, and then re-read. You really couldn't spend too much time doing that though because as it is I barely just "finished". Who knows what finishing in law school even means? Spotting and writing about more issues than everyone else?

It's only worth 10% of my grade. Like she said, it's a painless way to see what a law school exam was like and I do now have an outline for the class.

A recommendation: if you like beer, you should go to Peculier Pub in the Village. They have a menu with beers from all over the world, including countries I didn't know existed. What's even better is that it's not expensive and they include tip in the price.

I've been terribly ill on and off for the last several weeks. I think I'm allergic to the library, or perhaps the dank mustiness of the subways, which I see plenty of on my increasingly tiring commute.

I hope your midterm works out for you. I haven’t had one. Fullerton is giving an upgraded, but evaluated” exam” so we have an idea where we stand, at some point.

Stay healthy.

Thanks. Good luck on your "exam" too.

How do you like Fullerton? She's going to be my civ pro professor next semester. I really like my civ pro professor this semester so she has a lot to live up to...

what? you don't like doing worksheets as a second year student in a graduate program for which you've taken out loans in excess of $50K/year?

I like her.
Many don't.

She's rather Socratic and can be dismissive at times, but it's obvious she enjoys teaching.

I think the worksheets are a great way to apply the readings to other hypotheticals. I've appreciated them.

I like the "on-call" system much better than pure socratic for efficiency.

No.... I like pure Socratic. I think if a teacher doesn't allow people to raise their hands then you do not have people like Cheng's Assistant in your class answering everything right or wrong. The on call thing is silly. It means that three people are really prepared and the rest of the people just coast.
